Do you want to be a better coach in an educational setting?

Have you read these books? Read them to learn about coaching and the tools to help.

‘Switch: How to change things when change is hard’ by Chip and Dan Heath uses the analogy of an elephant and a rider to discuss change and barriers to change. The rider provides the direction, and the elephant the energy, and change happens when the two work together. Their main points are that you need to direct the rider, motivate the elephant and shape the path. They break down each area and include simple tactics including finding ‘bright spots-successful efforts worth emulating’ and shrinking the change. The main lessons of the book can be summed up, but then you would not learn as much including learning about Clocky the alarm clock that runs away. The beauty of the book is the interesting studies and fascinating examples to illustrate each point- a must read if you want to learn more about change.
